This is supposed to be as ridiculous as it sounds---the construction of a completely unnecessary shrine, built in the middle of nowhere, with no other purpose than to say fuck it, we did it.
At the same time, it is an ode to the magic of life---that a community of idiots can come together and laugh at the same thing, and that their laughter can turn into action that leaves a shared mark on the world.

There a raw beauty in the sparse openness of the Northern Nevada desert. A well-picked, 40 acre lot can find itself surrounded by 10s of thousands of acres of undeveloped land. Long vista points with flat desert beds running up against jetting mountains in the far distance. Dogecoin Shrine will be located north of Reno and south to south east of the the Black Rock Desert.
The Black Rock Desert is a semi-arid region of lava beds, and playa, or alkali flats, in the northern Nevada section of the Great Basin with a lakebed that is a dry remnant of Pleistocene Lake Lahontan.
The Great Basin, named for the geography in which water is unable to flow out and remains in the basin, is a rugged land serrated by hundreds of mountain ranges, dried by wind and sun, with spectacular skies and scenic landscapes.

A torii is a traditional Japanese gate most commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, where it symbolically marks the transition from the mundane to the sacred.
The first appearance of torii gates in Japan can be reliably pinpointed to at least the mid-Heian period; they are mentioned in a text written in 922. The oldest stone torii was built in the 12th century and belongs to a Hachiman Shrine in Yamagata prefecture.

A 40' monument made of concrete, wood, and steel, adorned with a prolific statue of the Shiba Inu Dogecoin Dog.
The design itself is modeled after the Berlin Victory Column. Designed by Heinrich Strack after 1864 to commemorate the Prussian victory in the Second Schleswig War, by the time it was inaugurated on 2 September 1873, Prussia had also defeated Austria and its German allies in the Austro-Prussian War (1866) and France in the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71), giving the statue a new purpose. Different from the original plans, these later victories in the unification wars inspired the addition of the bronze sculpture of Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory, designed by Friedrich Drake.

In Japan, a tsukubai is a washbasin provided at the entrance to a holy place for visitors to purify themselves by the ritual washing of hands and rinsing of the mouth. The name originates from the verb tsukubau meaning "to crouch" or "to bow down", an act of humility.
Tsubukai are usually of stone, and are often provided with a small ladle, ready to use. A supply of water may be provided via a bamboo pipe called kakei.
